Our Top 3 Prom Hairstyles for Spring 2016

Prom

Prom season is an exciting time of year in the salon, and we have been keeping an eye out for what hairstyles will be trending this year! While Pinterest is always a great resource for prom hair inspiration, some of the most up and coming looks can be found on the runways of fashion week in New York, London, Milan and Paris. A few of my favorite styles that were showcased for the Spring/Summer 2016 season can be easily translated into beautiful, wearable and fashion-forward hair for the big event.

If you’re going for the soft, romantic look, try channeling these models from the Kristian Aadnevik show:

The not-too-perfect braids and the effortless waves work perfectly together. For something unique, have some fun with the stacked double braids!

Is your style more Hollywood glamour? Check out the deep side parts and timeless volume shown at the Roberto Cavalli show:

This style can be pulled off in many different ways, from big shapely curls to straight and sleek on the ends. The key is to wear the height in your bangs back and off your face, rather than sweeping them across your forehead.

If you’re all about max drama and making a statement, the updos from the Dolce & Gabbana runway are perfect for you:

There will always be a place in our hearts for the low, swept-up bun, but height in updos is making a big comeback. This look is great for showing off an intricate dress neckline or bold jewelry, and can be worn smoothed or a little undone.

Now that you have some inspiration, here are a few tips for getting the most out of your prom service so you can bring the Runway to Grand March:

  1. Come prepared. Be sure to come with dry hair that’s not too dirty. We would rather dirty it up with texturizing products than work with hair that hasn’t been washed in days, and we typically don’t have time booked to blow dry dripping wet hair before we get started!
  2. Bring photos if you have a vision in mind. We love seeing the pictures you find that show what you like or don’t like, but be open to our suggestions as well! Pictures are a great way to communicate what your tastes are and get your stylist on the same page. However, the prettiest styles happen when you give your stylist the freedom to create something unique to you based off of that inspiration, rather than expecting an exact replication.
  3. Leave yourself enough time. Most prom appointments are booked for around an hour of time. Sometimes it takes more time (or less), so make sure to plan your day accordingly and don’t rush your stylist or show up late! Additionally, let us know when booking your appointment if you have extra long or thick hair so we can plan for that.
  4. Don’t be afraid to speak up! Above all, communicate with your stylist. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or let us know what you want. We want you to look and feel your best for the big day, and we love to work with you to achieve that!
