Which Hair Protectants Are Right For You?

Protective hair products are all the rage in 2022, and we’re fielding our guests’ daily questions about which products will help them avoid heat styling and environmental damage. In this third installment in our “which products are right for you” series, Designer Sena Appert walks us through a proactive styling routine from beginning to end.

When it comes to styling products, my main goal as a stylist is to ensure my guests’ hair health. And the same goes for me! I am all about moisture, shine, and health when styling my hair.

I have fine hair but a lot of it. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot. I keep my hair cut in a one-length bob and heat style daily, so having a great heat protectant is key to maintaining my hair health.

For Healthy Hair, Start in the Shower

Hair health starts in the shower, and I have been obsessed with Oribe’s new Hair Alchemy Shampoo and Conditioner. This new line protects the hair by encapsulating each strand with a protective barrier. It’s a comfort to know that my hair will be protected from any future coloring or styling just by using the shampoo and conditioner.

Protect Your Hair When Styling With Heat

After my shower, I always start my blow dry with my favorite leave-in conditioner and heat protectant, Supershine from Oribe. This product is amazing. It gives incredible shine and softness to my hair, but it doesn’t weigh it down.

My number one ride-or-die product is All-Style by Bumble and bumble, which allows my blowout to last for days. Al-Style helps add soft volume, but the best part is it has a built-in dry shampoo. When paired with heat, it becomes a powder that soaks up all your oils. It’s pretty magical!

Now You Can Reach for the Hot Tool

After all of my protective hair prep, I cannot live without my ghd Styler. This fantastic hot tool gives me soft, lived-in curls that will last a few days.

If you’re looking for protective hair products to maintain your health, strength, and shine (especially if you use hot tools), stop by the salon or click the links above to buy the products mentioned above, or get advice on what would work best for you!
