Top Nail Trends for 2025

The new year has a little something for everyone when it comes to nail trends. Maybe you’re more of a neutral colors kind of person. Maybe you love glitter and shine. Short nails, long nails or somewhere in between, we’ve got you covered. Here, Sarah from our Burnsville spa details some of this year’s most popular looks.

1. Mocha & Metallics

One color — or more like one color spectrum — that’s topping everyone’s favorites in 2025 is mocha mousse. Now, we all might have a slightly different shade of brown in mind when we think of mocha, and that’s the whole point. It’s just like how everyone’s preferred coffee drink comes in a variety of brown hues! From light and frothy to rich and deep, any color on the mocha spectrum will provide a perfect neutral tone to try on your tips this year. We especially recommend the Gelish / Morgan Taylor shades Want to Cuddle? and Don’t Bring Me Down. Metallics are also popular right now in a variety of shades, like Gelish’s Rhythm & Blues and No Way Rosé. Or, you can make any polish iridescent by adding Gelish’s Izzy Wizzy on top of your chosen color!

2. Short & Sweet

Short nails are slowly making a comeback, especially since they’re more lifestyle-friendly for so many of us. The next time you get a manicure, try going for a more rounded shape instead of square. It gives a petite look that might be easier for you to maintain between appointments. Your nail tech can also help you find the best shape for you.

3. Almond Nails

This shape continues to be popular in 2025, and with this trend, you can wear your nails long or short! This shape also looks amazing with a French tip.

4. Builder Nails

Everyone seems to be talking about builder nails these days … but what exactly are they? Builder gel or hard gel is an artificial alternative that we have offered at Cole’s for more than 20 years. We love having the gel option for our guests, as nail enhancements are not one size fits all. Some like the lighter feel of builder gel or just want the extra strength that it provides. Like any artificial enhancement, builder nails do require maintenance that can vary for each person and be built out for extra length. Builder gel is also a great option when you break a nail before a special event. We can add some to a broken nail to keep your manicure picture perfect.

5. Cat Eye Nails

This trend uses metallic glitter polish that gets manipulated with a magnet to create different looks. There are endless possibilities with this trend, all of which create gorgeous, shimmering looks. Look out for the Gelish Aurora collection, arriving in February.

6. Chrome!

This 2024 trend continues to be a favorite in the new year, and it’s easy to see why. It doesn’t matter how long your nails are, or what shape you wear them — chrome works on everyone. It can even be done on a French tip, especially on longer, almond-shaped nails!

Whether you want to try something new or stick to your usual, we’ll take care of you. Book your next mani and pedi at Cole’s!
