Too Much Fun in the Sun? Our Tips to Reverse Sun Damage

If you’re anything like us, you probably spent too much time in the sun this summer, and now you’re worried about the effects of those warm, wonderful rays. We all know that UVs can be harmful to our skin and cause wrinkles (if not something worse).

That’s why we offer an array of products and services that can help you start to reverse all that fun in the sun. But let’s be clear: aging is not a bad thing! We think you’re beautiful no matter what; our job is to help you enhance that beauty, whether that means giving you guidance about skincare concerns or providing you with the tools to look and feel your best, every day. However, we know that certain aspects of aging and changing skin can make you feel less confident, so let us impart some of our skincare wisdom. Here’s our recommendations for turning back the clock a little bit, or at the very least erasing some of the damage you’ve done to your skin:

On your face.
For starters, invest in a great daily sunscreen and never skip a day. You’re still exposed to the sun even when it’s covered by clouds—even in the winter! SPF 30 is ideal, and it’s even easy to find a facial moisturizer with added SPF.

If you need even more help minimizing sun damage, discoloration or fine lines, book a chemical peel with us. Chemical peels encourage faster skin and cell turnover—revealing fresh, deeply-exfoliated skin with each session.

Another option is our Signature Facial, which utilizes highly-active Vitamin C and glycolic acid to brighten and tighten your skin. Our estheticians can help you choose the right treatments for your particular concerns so you know you’re getting the best of what we have to offer and seeing the fastest results.

On your hands. Sun damage appears really quickly on your hands. Help keep your skin firm and bright with a serum like Aveda’s Hand Relief Night Renewal Serum, which uses licorice root to help fight dark spots. Don’t forget to apply extra sunscreen to your hands when you’re out and about, especially when you’re driving!

On your body. The neck and décolletage is one of the first places most women see the effects of aging. Make sure you’re using a light anti-aging serum on these areas every day and night to help encourage cell turnover and fade any sun spots you may have acquired.

In your hair. That gorgeous hair color really takes a beating in the summertime, doesn’t it? Protect it from harsh fading from UV rays with a color-protecting regimen like Oribe’s Beautiful Color line. We’re not going to tell you to wrap your hair up in a scarf like your grandma did, but it’s never a bad idea to wear a hat when you know you’re going to get a ton of sun exposure. That hair color is an investment—protect it!

Finally, visit your dermatologist after summer has ended to have them do a quick onceover on any new moles or freckles, just to be safe. We love our clients, and we want you to be safe!
