Holiday Hair Looks You Can Do in 10 Minutes and How to Get Them

Is your holiday schedule packed full of events, concerts, dinners, and parties? Same here. It seems like every year, things just get busier and busier. These holiday events are all super fun and a great way to share feelings of joy and happiness with the people we care about, but they definitely come with a little-added pressure when it comes to your holiday hair look. After all, it’s a special time—you just have to bring things up a notch come Christmastime.

Luckily for you, it doesn’t have to be difficult to add a little extra sparkle and shine to your holiday hairstyles. We chose a few of our favorite classic looks and we’re here to help you recreate them for any occasion—no elves required.

The polished ponytail

Nothing says elegance quite like a low, polished ponytail, and it looks lovely with cocktail attire AND casual clothes. We recommend keeping the look sleek and straight on top (use Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight before blow drying) and flyaway-free. A great tip we love to pass on to clients is to spray a light hold hairspray (like Oribe Superfine Hair Spray) on a brush and then run it through your hair to add just a little bit of shine and control.

The bubble pony

If you’re looking for a twist on a classic, why not try the “bubble ponytail” or “bubble braid?” It makes a serious statement, especially if you want your hair to be the focus of your look, but it’s really easy to do. First, give hair extra texture and volume at the crown with a little texture powder or spray—Oribe’s popular Texturizing Spray is our pick—and then tie hair in a series of “bubbles” with small elastics. Done and done.

Tousled waves

Yes, beachy waves are still a “thing.” They’ve been popular for a few years now and don’t show any sign of slowing down, but what we love about undone waves is that they look really fresh and unexpected with something extra glam. Aveda’s new Texture Tonic is ideal for creating a little bit of texture on straight or fine hair. Wrap small sections of your dry hair around a curling iron or wand, then let the curls cool completely before running your fingers through your hair to relax the curls a bit. Spray with your texture spray of choice and go!

The half-up bow

This style is great because it works for all hair types and lengths (unless your hair is super short, of course.) Pull back two sections of hair from above your ears, twist them and tie them into a bow shape. All you need to complete this simple but sweet look is some elastics, a bobby pin or two, and your favorite hairspray to keep it all in place.

The big and bouncy beauty queen blowout

OK, so this one is a bit of cheat, but stay with us. If you’ve got an important event to attend this holiday season, why not book a blowout with us? You’ll get the pampering and relaxation you definitely deserve, plus a salon-quality blowout that you can customize to your liking. Want a pin-straight style? We can do that! Would you rather go full-on Miss America with volume and bounce? Great! Plus, with a little dry shampoo and some creativity you can rock that blowout for days afterward.
