Hair and Beauty Trends We’re Excited About This Fall

We’ve still got a few more weeks of summer, but if you’re anything like us, you can’t help but think of all things fall once August rolls around. Blame it on the back to school rollout at Target and all your favorite stores, who replace shorts and swimsuits with sweaters and jeans. If you’re ready to get a headstart on freshening up your hair and makeup look for the autumn season, you’ve come to the right place! We’re always keeping a close eye on the trends, so whether you’re heading back to school, back to the office, or just dreaming of a fresh color or new lipstick, we’ve got you.

Hair color: Copper red, butterscotch blonde

Just like you crave a pumpkin spice latte as soon as the leaves start to turn and warm nights turn crisp and cool, the urge to dye your hair gets super strong in the fall. This season, we’re loving bright, shiny copper red hues a la Kendall Jenner and Julianne Moore. If you prefer a lighter tone, opt for a more orange-red than auburn.

Another yummy trend we’re feeling for fall is the butterscotch blonde, a warmer, more golden twist on the classic blonde. If you want to change up your blonde for the season but don’t necessarily want to go red or brunette, butterscotch is the perfect way to update without straying too far from your comfort zone.

Cut and style: The ‘70s shag, the ‘90s blowout, sleek ponytails

Think lots of layers, curtain bangs, and a certain je nais sais quoi energy that makes you feel like a ‘70s supermodel. The shag works for all kinds of hair textures and styles; you can try a subtle shag with just a few layers or go full Stevie Nicks or fashion mullet if the mood strikes.

The big, bouncy ‘90s blowout is having a moment too, and even if you rocked it the first time around, there’s a lot to love about this voluminous style with body-ody-ody. We’re not bringing the Rachel back (yet), but ‘90s-esque layers with lots of movement and versatility are hot this season — perfect for your mom jeans and Doc Martens!

Another popular trend we spotted on the fall runways was the super-sleek low ponytail. It’s an elegant (and easy!) way to update your go-to pony for a new season. Dress it up with a bow, a bit of sparkle, or a pretty barrette for more formal occasions.

Makeup: Smoky eyes, deep blue shadow and liner, dark matte lips

We’ve got the blues! Blues of all different hues were popular on the fall runways, from vibrant cobalt to deep sapphire. Try a flick of blue liner in place of your usual black or brown to dip your toe into the trend, or brush a bit of bright blue shadow under your lower lid for an unexpected twist.

Just like the ‘90s blowout is back, so too is the very ‘90s supermodel smoky eye. It’s the ultimate look for a big night out with its smudgy, sexy tone and texture. If you’re curious about the smoky eye but aren’t sure where to start, visit us for a makeup application and our talented artists will show you the basics to DIY a smoky eye of your own.

If lipstick is your true love, fall is all about matte textures in rich, deep hues like brick and eggplant. A new lip color is the easiest way to baby step your way into the fall season, so visit us to check out our favorite hues and find one that works for you.
