Body waxing before a vacation can save you time and worry, while getting you looking and feeling your best. The hair-free results from a wax typically last a week—the perfect length of time for you to enjoy your spring break vacation! Cole’s offers many body waxing options, including underarm, arm, leg, bikini, and chest and back waxing for men. We’ve also got some waxing tips below for getting the best look and feel!
1. Let that hair grow!
For the best results, you need two to three weeks of hair growth—about a quarter to half inch long—in order for the wax to be able to grab onto the hair. If the hair is too short, there may be hair left behind and you won’t get the clean look you’re going for.
2. Prep your skin
Gentle exfoliation helps prevent ingrown hairs and preps the skin for a better wax. With the dead skin sloughed off through exfoliation, the wax can remove the hair more efficiently.
3. Set your date
Scheduling your appointment for as close to your departure date as possible helps to ensure you’ll be hair-free for your vacation. If you’re worried about having sensitive skin during the trip, try giving yourself a couple days buffer. To find out how sensitive your skin is, schedule an appointment for a trial run about a month beforehand. Post-waxing irritation usually subsides within 24 hours.
4. Avoid those UVs
Waxing is exfoliating to the skin and can make your skin more prone to burning. We recommend staying out of the sun (and tanning bed) before and after waxing. Waxing freshly sunburned skin is a painful experience and burning your skin after your wax will further irritate already sensitive skin. If you want a tanned look, give airbrush tanning a try (available at select Cole’s locations). Pro-tip: wax first, and then airbrush—otherwise you’ll be waxing off your tan!
