Six New Lip Colors for Fall

Fall is almost is here, and you know what that means—it’s time to swap out your lighter, brighter shades for rich, deep berry hues. If you’re looking for a lip color or two to match those chunky sweaters, tights and boots—I have some color recommendations for you.

Here are my top six lip colors for fall—two from each of my fave beauty brands:

Aveda

Aveda is known in the beauty industry for their innovation and leadership in environmental responsibility. Their products are made without any harsh chemicals and contain pure plant essences that create their signature aroma. Aveda recently relaunched all of their lipsticks for their new “Feed My Lips” campaign. Their new formulas are long-wearing and nourishing for the lips. They are 95% naturally-derived and contain ingredients such as fruit butter and botanical oils.

1. Morello

One of my go-to colors for fall. It has warm hints of a deep berry color, perfect for someone who would normally wear a bright pink or mauve shade during warmer months. Plus you’ll love the long-wearing formula!

2. Sweet Papaya

This light, peachy, shade has just a touch of shimmer and a more translucent finish for buildable color. I recommend this to anyone who usually wears a tinted chapstick or gloss.

Oribe

Oribe is a luxury brand that doesn’t mess around when it comes to creating concentrated products that don’t disappoint. Oribe Canales, the brand’s founder, wanted consumers to be inspired by the runway, but also have the performance to surpass anything else in the marketplace. Their sleek packaging feels trendy, yet classic, and is sure to leave you wanting more.

1. Super Natural

Another one of my favorite lip trends for fall is a nude lip. Although there are many different shades and undertones a nude lip color can be, I’ve found that Super Natural has just enough color to it that it flatters many different skin tones. Pair this lip with your favorite lip pencil for added depth.

2. The Red

I mean, the name says it all. The Red is *the* red of your dreams. A non-patchy, highly pigmented color for the bold with a slight orange undertone.

Jane Iredale

Jane Iredale makes products that not only look good, but that are also nurturing to the skin. They don’t use any artificial fragrances, parabens, or harsh ingredients and never test on animals. For anyone who shies away from lipstick or prefers a more hydrating satin finish, the new collection by Jane Iredale will be your BFF. The new and improved formula is more natural, moisturizing and long-lasting than ever before, and the colors are gorg.

1. Jessica

The perfect choice for fall, with a slight red/orange hue that compliments rosy cheeks and your favorite flannel.

2. Ella

My personal favorite. This color is a deep berry with cool undertones. And although the color is dark and pigmented, it applies like a dream with hardly any touch-ups needed throughout the day.

Fall Lip Care

Once you find your color(s) of choice, it’s important to get a lip care routine down so your lips can stay as naturally plump and smooth on their own. Here are my top three tips:

1. Exfoliate
Make sure to get rid of any dead skin or texture on your lips by using a gentle exfoliator like Jane Iredale’s Sugar and Butter Lip Exfoliator/Plumper. Especially when applying darker colors, it is important to have a smooth surface or the color will go on patchy and uneven.

2. Hydrate
To prevent fine lines on your lips and avoid dryness when using a long wear lip color, I recommend IMAGE Skincare’s Oremedic Lip Enhancement Treatment. This little guy will save your lips during the dry winter months. I apply before bed and throughout the day.

3. Prime/Line
Prime or line your lips to ensure your lip color will last all day, go on smoothly, and not bleed. I like to use a clear liner pencil, such as Aveda’s Pure Nourish Mint Lip Primer. This works well with with any color.

So what’s your fall color going to be? Let me know if I can help find the perfect color to perfectly match the cooler weather and falling leaves!
