Mastering Men’s Cuts with Oribe

Posted by: Liz Youngman

Last weekend, one of our favorite beauty brands, Oribe, brought stylists from all over the country to New York City for the Oribe Journey to Mastery class. This dynamic, two-day event showcased the latest in men’s styling and grooming through live demonstrations and exclusive hands-on workshops.

Our very own Liz Youngman, Advanced Designer and Oribe Ambassador at Cole’s Salon Burnsville, attended the event and we caught up with her to learn more about the event and her key takeaways.

What was the event all about?

This class gave an advanced look into cutting a longer men’s haircut, using a straight edge razor, as well as some advanced clipper work. It consisted of two full days of learning different ways of achieving a desired haircut taught by the best education team of Oribe stylists. We then went on to use those tips and tricks to construct our own haircuts on live men’s hair models. Here are some of my finished products:

Why were you excited to attend the event?

It was an amazing opportunity to advance my own skills and in turn, I’ll be able to teach what I have learned to my coworkers throughout our Cole’s locations. These mastery classes are taught by various Oribe educators and are so motivating and so welcoming for any level of stylist. We are all there for the same reason—we love cutting hair!—and it’s such a fun experience to meet many different stylists from all over the country.

What’s next?

My goal is to take all of the Oribe Journey to Mastery classes in order to keep adding to my skill and be able to share that with my clients to give them the best experience and the best look possible. I’m grateful for the opportunity to travel and learn with so many like minded stylists and am eager to apply what I’ve learned on my upcoming clients!
