Curtain Bangs: The Hair Trend of Winter

Posted by: Lilly Theis

As we embrace the winter season, curtain bangs are everywhere. After years of giving my clients blunt haircuts with sharp angles, I’m excited for all the fun movement and added length that curtain bangs can! If you’ve ever wondered about whether you can pull off bangs, trust me. This style works for everyone!

Curtain bangs are angled to be shorter in the center and longer on the sides. Just like a curtain, they’re parted in the middle and hang gently on either side of your face. Check out how these three beautiful guests rocked the relaxed look.

We’re also seeing clothing trends changing—think animal print, modern tye-dye, and some good ‘ol flair pants, so it makes sense that this vintage-inspired look is coming back. Curtain bangs are typically a light feathery, texture, but they can be customized to work on everyone. Whether it’s a pixie that is more pieced-out, a shag, or tons of layers in long flowing hair—curtain bangs look great! Tip: It’s a good idea to bring a few reference photos for us stylists, so we can be sure to give you the right look.

The secret to this super-flattering trend is that the bangs tend to hit right at top of your cheekbones, framing your face perfectly. It’s also the perfect length to tuck behind your ears. If you gave yourself a quarantine-chop recently, curtain bangs can be a great way to deal with the awkward grow-out stage or switch up your style without getting too dramatic. Winter bangs aren’t sweaty or frizzy like summer bangs, so now is the perfect time to test them out! And did I mention they’re usually long enough to pull back into a ponytail? We love to see it.

I’m in the salon if you’re itching to try out this versatile trend on all hair types! Book an appointment now to give curtain bangs a spin.
