In true Minnesota fashion, we were teased with a few days of gorgeous, sunny spring-like weather before a fresh coating of new snow fell, throwing us for a loop and, admittedly, crushing more than a few spirits. There’s no need to let the winter blues get you down, though.
Technically, it’s spring, and we’re saying goodbye to winter regardless of the lower-than-average temperatures with some of our favorite warm-weather rituals and services.
Swap out your skincare
When the temperature changes, you may not need the heavy moisturizers and coats of hand lotion you did in the chilly winter. Change up your full-coverage winter foundation for a powder or tinted moisturizer from Jane Iredale, and opt for a slightly lighter nightly serum and moisturizer. We love Eminence Organics’ Eight Greens line for brightness and anti-aging (not available at our Savage location).
Get a facial
Are you really, REALLY ready to put your freshest face forward for spring and summer? Then book a facial or two! One of our estheticians will pamper and soothe your skin, then give you product recommendations if you’re not sure what your skin is craving this season. If you really want to glow and say goodbye to your dull winter skin, make it a spa peel or a dual peel. You’ll leave feeling relaxed and radiant, and what’s better than that?
Time to wax
Winter is great because you can go for months without waxing, but once the sun starts shining, it’s time to show some skin. We offer full body waxing, from underarms to partial or full leg. If you’ve got a spring vacation in the works, then treat yourself to several services and skip the razor for a few weeks. It’s so worth it to get a head start before summer.
Book a haircut
Did you slack on your regular trims during the coldest days of winter? We get it, but now that it’s warming up, you have no excuse! If you’re not in the market for a brand new cut and style, just saying goodbye to your split ends will make your hair look and feel so much better. We always recommend adding a treatment service to your cut to soften and strengthen your hair, especially if you’re thinking about going lighter for the season.
Lighten up
Minnesota girls (and guys) know that spring = blonde. Even if you’re a deep, dark brunette, you may be feeling tempted to lighten up a bit. You don’t have to go full foil, either—our stylists can fulfill your bright blonde dreams with balayage or other techniques! If you’re already blonde, consider changing your tone from warm to cool or vice versa. It isn’t a major change, but a little change makes everybody feel a little lighter and brighter. We’re loving Oribe’s new Airbrush Root Touch-Up Sprays, too—there’s one for every color, and they can help extend the life of your treatment!
Pick a new pedi shade
The burgundy and navy shades you gravitate towards for fall and winter mani-pedis feel so tired now, don’t they? We get it. Give in to your color cravings and pick something happy and bright for the season. You’ll be showing off your toes in sandals before you know it, so make sure they look good! Our favorite color trends for spring include bright blues, oranges, and metallics. Mix and match or choose the same shade for hands and feet—it’s up to you.
Let us lead the way
Not even sure what you want or what’s best for your specific hair texture, face or nails? We got you—give us a call or stop into the salon and talk to a FIT member. They’ll point you in the right direction and help you with whatever you need!
